You’ll want to find products that have low to medium competition on Amazon. This means the Top 10 sellers have an average of 500 reviews give or take. Some may have more, but the average should balance out to about 500 reviews.

It’s the best case when you have 3 Sellers (or more) with less than 50 reviews.
Demand For The Product

Demand For The Product – Means that there should be sales. The Top 10 Sellers for this product should be selling an average of at least 2,000 units (when you combine them all) in sales per month. More is better. Less is not ideal.
Top 10 Sales Are Evenly Distributed

Top 10 Sales Are “Evenly” Distributed – The Top 10 sellers should be making a good amount of sales, rather than having a product where one seller makes 80% of the sales and everyone else is fighting for scraps. Avoid products where one seller makes the majority of sales.

Sales Price Is Between $20-$50+ – Does your product have a sales price in this range or beyond? You’ll want to keep the price in this range (or higher) so that you have enough profitability to pay for growth, pay for expenses like marketing, and make your Amazon business successful.

Patent, Copyright, Trademark Search – You’ll want to complete this to make sure there are no legal issues with your product. There’s nothing worse than ordering your first inventory, only to realize that your listing (or account) has been blocked for a legal violation. You can do a quick search to avoid this.

Can You See Areas For Improvement – This is something you’ll want to ask yourself and look for when doing your product research. You’ll want to improve the product or bundle it with something else so you can stand out from the competition.

Low Seasonality, Steady Sales – You’ll want to find products that have low seasonality, meaning there are steady sales all year. You can use your product research tools to look at historical charts to see seasonality.
Durable and Simple

Durable and Simple – You’ll want to stay away from anything with a lot of moving parts. As an example, electronics can have a ton of components that you’ll be responsible for. You’ll want to stay away from complex items. Additionally you’ll want to stay away from fragile items like glass products.
Best Seller Ranking (BSR) of 5,000 or lower
- Nice to Haves
Best Seller Ranking (BSR) of 5,000 or lower – Ideally you’ll want to find products where 3 of the Top 10 Seller products have a Best Seller Ranking (BSR) of 5,000 or less. It’s an indication that the product performs well in general.
Can I Find Product Improvement Insights In The Reviews?

Can I find product improvement insights in the reviews? If I read the reviews, can I see and identify customer complaints that I can improve on that will make customers by my product over the competition? As a general rule, look for 3-star reviews to start, as they’re more honest than 1 or 2 stars.
